You can save money and lower greenhouse gas emissions by slowing down a bit.
As a rule of thumb, each five miles per hour over a speed of sixty costs the equivalent of an additional twenty cents per gallon.

08/30/2008 -- Boone County Rabies Alert
Animal Control Officers are available 24 hours a day to catch bats within homes or buildings. Persons needing assistance may call 573-449-1888.
The Columbia/Boone County Health Department Animal Control Division advises citizens to:
- Avoid contact with wild animals and stray pets.
- Make sure dogs and cats are vaccinated against rabies.
- Keep pets under control; do not let them run loose.
- Do not keep wild animals as pets.
- Notify Animal Control if you suspect an animal has rabies.
- Seek immediate medical evaluation when bitten or otherwise injured by an animal.

Creek Trail this summer.
On Katy Trail the department will be spraying from Providence Road to McBaine, while on Bear Creek Trail they will be spraying from Oakland Junior High to Cosmo Park.The weekly spraying will be held depending on the weather.
Again, the spraying will happen every Friday Morning from May to the first fall frost.

You do not need to have experience with horses to work in the program, but you must be at least 13 years old.
Training for the Fall Session will be held on Monday, September 8th, from 6-8 PM.

The current Daniel Boone Regional Library “One Read” book is The Whistling Season by Ivan Doig. Set in the 1950s with narrator Paul Milliron looking back to his childhood of 1909, this story contains joyful memories of the Montana prairie and appreciation of the life lessons learned in a one-room schoolhouse.
State Historical Society-Western Historical Manuscripts staff member Bill Stolz will support the “One Read” experience by drawing connections between Milliron’s memories and those of early twentieth-century Columbia residents as documented in letters, diaries, photographs, and oral histories. This takes place at the Western Historical Manuscripts Collection on the MU Campus on September 24 at 7:00 p.m.
